Introduction



ACADEMIC  OPERATIONS
5.1 The  College  is properly approved  and  registered  with the  Ministry  of  Education  and    Culture as  a  provider of teacher  education  and  as  such must  follow  and  apply all rules  and  regulations provided  by the  ministry in the  provision and  administration of teacher  education at all  levels.
5.2  Although the  college  is  originally  scheduled  to  produce  teachers to  serve  the   private  schools that  use  English  as  medium  of  instructions, students have  to sit  for  their  final  examinations  from the  National  Examination Council, some  of  which  are  available only  in Kiswahili like  the  Early Childhood  Education  Certificate, where by  the  English curriculum  is yet to be available.
5.3  Arrangements are underway to  produce  the  English  curricular  in  conjunction with  the  ministry.
5.4  The college  has  also  in plan  arrangements  to establish  a language  laboratory  equipped  with  modern  equipment, like the  Dictaphones, to  enable  students  master  languages,  particularly English to   improve  their   teaching  competency.
5.5  To  keep in line  with  modern  technological  developments  and demands of  the   current educational  programmes   in information  technology, the   college  has  plans  to  produce  and  install 50 new  computers and associated accessories in  addion   to the  present  9 to  enable  all students  to be   computer  literate, s  requires by the  ministry, by  the  end of  academic year 2010
5.6  The   impotency of  a well-equipped  library in  any  school environment  cannot  be over emphasized. The  college  will  construct a  library  block and  equip it with  at  least  basic books in   every  area  of  study. Books  and  other  library  materials  of  value  to a  tune of  Tshs. 40 million are earmarked during  the  next academic  year.
5.7  The  management  is  desirous of  providing  a  conducive study environment  for  its students; therefore  this business plan envisages  construction of  student hostel  for  both  males and  female students together  with a modern  kitchen and a  canteen facilities.
5.8  However, the  college  does  not  intend to run the  accommodation and  meal services  but  will lease  these  services  to suitable  tenders, but  keep  a  close  eye on the  way  operate to ensure  good  welfare  of  students.
5.9  Teaching practice is a major component of any  teacher education programme. In this  regard, the  college  will be  strict in allocating students to  proper  schools, including the  colleges,  modal schools  under plans  associated with  very  close supervision and  assessment criterion.
